Program Components
The Write Source program consists of:
- Student Edition – a comprehensive, grade-level specific student book packed with information, lessons and activities on the writing process, forms of writing, six traits of writing, grammar, usage, and mechanics, and more

- Criterion™ for Write Source - an online evaluation tool with instructional writing practice that provides instant, holistic score and diagnostic feedback for students’ essays; Trait feedback shows comments or identifies errors within a student’s essay; Individualized reporting and tracking for teachers; Nearly 200 writing prompts; Online handbooks provide convenient access to the mechanics, usage, punctuation, spelling, and grammar rules
- Teacher’s Resource Pack – a variety of additional resources to help teachers get the most of the Write Source program. Includes:
- SkillsBook: a reproducible edition (consumables available separately) packed with more than 90 editing and proofreading activities, a separate SkillsBook Teacher’s Edition provides answers for the activities
- Assessment Book: contains copy masters for a pretest, interim tests, and a posttest to help teachers monitor students’ progress
- Overhead Transparencies: graphic organizers and benchmark papers for whole-class instruction
- Interactive Writing Skills CD: interactive activities, animated lessons, and printable and e-mailable reports addressing six key areas: punctuation, mechanics, spelling, usage, understanding sentences, and parts of speech
- Daily Language Workouts: daily 5-to-10 minute editing and proofreading activities, writing prompts, word choice activities and more
