Spelling for Writers 1-6
Spelling for Writers Grades 1-6
The Spelling for Writers Workshop is designed for Grades 1-6 teachers who use Spelling for Writers in their classrooms. Teachers will learn about the current research on how students learn to spell, how the lessons in Spelling for Writers support the research, and how to build a strong connection between spelling and writing.
During this interactive one-day workshop, teachers explore each component of their Spelling for Writers Kit, observe the trainer model strategies from the daily lessons, and have many opportunities for hands-on practice with their new resources. The workshop guides teachers through the carefully designed systematic approach to teaching students about our language and how to transfer knowledge of word features to their writing.
Objectives
Participants will learn:
- To connect the history and theory behind learning to spell with instructional methods
- To use and manage the components of Spelling for Writers in the classroom
- How to use word sorts
- How to use Spelling for Writers to differentiate learning in the classroom
