Focused Intervention Seminar, K-6
Support teachers who provide intervention instruction with this one- or two-day seminar. Created in consultation with Dr. Michael Opitz, this seminar is designed to empower teachers working with striving learners to differentiate instruction to individual learning needs. The "Formula for Success" lesson framework helps interventionists focus on specific learning targets and adapt instruction to maximize daily success for accelerated student progress. Strategies learned can support implementation of any intervention instructional resource. An optional day of classroom demonstrations provided by the professional development trainer is also suggested.

Reaching Struggling Adolescent Readers Workshop provides practical strategies for working with students who are reading significantly below grade level. Customized Middle and High School Professional Development, 6-12
Customized consulting services for middle and high school educators can range from a one-day course to a long-term partnership that includes teacher coaching, demonstration lessons, and specialized course topics. A school or district's specific needs are used as the foundation for a comprehensive professional development action plan that will support teachers, coaches, and administrators. Recommended topics include algebra readiness, intervention, lesson design, differentiation, small group teaching, and distributive practice targeted at the needs of students.

Using Technology to Enhance Learning for At-Risk Students, K-12
This workshop will introduce participants to a variety of instructional strategies to be used with at-risk students that will enhance development of the higher order thinking skills necessary to be able to function effectively in the world. Participants will learn how to use technology to help students develop small-group cooperative learning skills to help them to learn from each other and raise student motivation. Focus is on maximizing student involvement in challenging, long-term projects that stress composition, comprehension, and application of skills in the context of working on authentic tasks.

This interactive and engaging professional development is designed for educators using Steck-Vaughn Gateways. This series of training opportunities combines the latest scientific research with best instructional practices to prepare teachers to accelerate the reading/writing achievement of struggling readers and English learners in grades 4-12.

The Portals Intervention Workshop is designed for educators using the Portals program featuring short graphic novels by Bill Labov. Teachers leave the workshop prepared to fully implement the Portals program to ensure student success.

Soar to Success Institute, Level I, K-8
During the two-day Soar to Success Institute, Level I, teachers will learn how to help struggling K-8 readers achieve grade-level success using the research-based materials in Soar to Success. Developed by reading authorities Dr. J. David Cooper and Dr. David Chard, this intervention institute uses role-playing, discussions, simulations, and coaching to support teachers in internalizing the instructional plan, ongoing assessments, and developing a plan for managing the curriculum in their buildings and classrooms.

Soar to Success Institute, Level II, K-8
The Soar to Success Institute, Level II is designed to support educators in building capacity by preparing district personnel to become certified Level I trainers. During this advanced institute, participants will explore adult learning theory, engage in simulations, implement effective presentation skills, begin planning for their district training, and participate in extensive coaching.
Prerequisites for this institute include successful completion of the Soar to Success Institute, Level I, submission of videotaped lesson instruction, and at least one semester of experience teaching or coaching teachers using Soar to Success.

Knowing Mathematics Institute, Level I, 4-6
During the two-day Knowing Mathematics Institute, Level I, teachers will learn to support below-level math students by developing a profound understanding of fundamental mathematics. Developed in consultation with Dr. Liping Ma and Dr. Kathy Kessel, this highly interactive training offers opportunities for participants to engage in role-playing, discussions, simulations, and coaching activities that support teachers in internalizing the instructional plan found in the Knowing Mathematics program.

iSucceed™ Math Workshop, 3-8
This hands-on, highly interactive workshop is designed specifically for teachers who are implementing iSucceed MATH. In this workshop, participants experience each component of the program, learning how to differentiate instruction for students who need math intervention. Time is spent with the diagnostic assessment tools, computer-based individualized instruction, teacher-facilitated small-group instruction, and options for extra practice and reteaching. Educators leave the workshop prepared to implement iSucceed MATH and help students reach grade-level math standards.
